I hope that it works as well for you as it has for me.
Since it seems so important to some that I missed the meeting, you will probably be fascinated to know that I was home with my 5 year old daughter who has strep throat (again - twice in three months).
Sit with my sick little Angel, or rehash the same stuff with Nick et al…choice was easy.
I have already (today) forwarded copies of the concerns expressed by other inspectors in private conversations to the Senator, my Senator, all members of the committee having jurisdiction, and appropriate members of the House, including the entire Philadelphia delegation (since Philly would lose significant amounts of money from lost licensing fees and would lose some ability to track businesses for BPLs and taxes owed).
Joe F - as always, I wear your disdain as a badge of honor.
Wish I could have, Joe, but I had other priorities… I forwarded the concerns I wanted to present to the Senator under a cover letter to all appropriate parties.
Jo M. one of the better points in the Bill is the taking of authority to license from municipalities. There are 2,564 municipalities in PA. Obviously not all would consider or will license. However, Norristown is considering it and other Boroughs and Cities like Ready and Allentown may consider it as finical pressures increase on them. If you don’t support State licensing wouldn’t you appose municipal licensing as well? Multiple licensing within the same market would be costly and problematic for Inspectors. One set of regulations imposed on the whole State would seam a better way to go.
You missed what I thought was a very interesting discussion on mentoring, required number of inspection, and the problems associated with creating an equitable system for new inspections to achieve those requirements. The discussion carried into testing and schooling. I think the Senator realized the complexity of the issue. Trying to create a system of education and requirements that would bring new inspectors up to a predetermined standard that the public; buyers, sellers, agents, and other inspectors would want while not creating a catch 22 situation for new inspectors entering the industry. No conclusions were drawn, but I think everyone there acknowledge that this might be the hardest goal for a HI board to achieve.
PS I hope your daughter feels better.
Yes, I think too, that it was a fairly productive meeting. Seemed like some primary issues and concerns were communicated and the Senator was listening and responding positively. Time will tell what the outcome will be. As positive as the meeting seemed, however, it may behoove us to not be too complacent. Afterall, this was one meeting with a few of us and **one **Senator, albeit an important player. It might be a good idea to follow-up with additional communications with a number of pertinant people, such as Joe M. has done (if we haven’t done that already).
Thanks for being there everyone (Dan, Joe H, Joe F, Nick, Ron and Kim) and good to meet all of you (that I haven’t met before)! Sorry you weren’t able to make it Joe M, but I certainly understand and appreciate your priorities.

Good job, Nick. Again, you made it happen.
Just another alligator mouth with a tadpole a-s-s.
Well, since we have the photographers name, and if anyone is interested, I’ll fill in the rest of the names.
From left to right in the photo is Ron Brown, Joe Hagarty, Mark Long, Kim Gore, Senator Greenleaf, Nick Gromicko and Dan Keogh.
You know, Jim, if you don’t have anything productive to contribute, why don’t you keep your thoughts to yourself.
I’m doing that right now, Mark.
As for the thought that I DID express, regarding Joe Michalski, it was in response to his repetitious mantra of NACHI’s failure to support his efforts to save PA inspectors from PHIC’s legislative efforts … and then failing to be present for the seat he reserved to actually participate with Nick in that effort. When called on it, he uses the opportunity to criticize those present ("rehash the same stuff with Nick, et al).
I feel that it is productive to point out to those calling for leadership in an effort to defeat the PHIC push for control over inspectors in PA that such leadership will not be found in the likes of this guy with the alligator mouth and tadpole a s s.
Nick
You forgot to fix your hair
Mark, correction, the gentleman on the left is Ron Bruno of ASHI/PHIC… very nice fella. I just sent him our* Inspect and Protect* book.
More and more states are outlawing unethical practices and we should all support the legislators and licensing board members in their efforts.
Email me that stuff we talked about
Emailing now.
