Thanks Brian…if its 5 years then so be it…
I just want my brothers to have a “PROFESSION” and not a job that others push around and tell them what to do…we shall see.

Who the **** did I blame? Hey don’t like my solution, well too bad I don’t give a ****.
Good friend just got his HI license, HI5836. Congradulations to him!
Now 5836, how does that break down by counties?
There are 67 counties in Florida, that’s 87 licensed HI’s per county average…
Number of realtor sales of exsisting homes in 2009:163,148.
Statistically, 27.9 possible home inspections per licensed HI a year…

27.9 !..opps, I think think I have been taking someones share…sorry
Do not bother disagreeing with me because I did not read any of or the rest of your responses.
I agree with burkeson for once.
Because it would be good for me
The same way folks like Russ come up with their opinion.
All of us have the obligation to try to do what is good for ourselves.
If you do not you are a fool.
Remember to lookout for yourselves because no one else will or cares.
If you hold a General Contractors license you do not want to have anything to do with the crap Russ tries to get pushed through because as he admits he is only trying to help those with only one license and that is the home inspector license.
I do not blame him if that was all I was I would hope and try to get away with all the crap he is trying as well because that would bennifit me.
Here is the straight poop.
If you are just a home inspector then follow Russ if you hold any other license then you better damn well look out for what is best for you and it sure as hell is not his agenda
Michael is 100% correct, I do, will and will continue to represent the Professional Home Inspector, there is absolutely no way to serve two masters as many try to unsuccesfully do. I do think this is a “home inspection” organization and I will represent the home inspector the way home inspectors guide me. I sent forth the information that pertains to the profession given to me by its MEMBERS…
I do not represent “me” I represent the input given to me by professional home inspectors.
Never should there be a Limit
on the Introduction of Qualified Home Inspectors…
Those in Favor of Licensing are Guilty of Creating their own demise of the Industry…
Where does it leave me(a contractor also) then, I asked him to take the God forsaken position.
Russ is doing what is best for all inspectors/contractor. You can not see it because you have GC blindness.
No, you just fail to realize now there are thousands more you MUST compete with for work.
Now there are a great many more that have the same rights you have.
They did not have to do the same things to get those rights as you did.
You have been screwed and did not even get kissed
Michael no one has taken anything from you. You were the first low baller I met. So you are the king of starting this crap.
How did you not keep your market share? You were allowed to do these way before home inspectors were allowed? How did a home inspector, steal your business? I will tell you, you are not worth what people pay you, reguardless the price!
You seem to think if you eliminate all the competition you will be successful, this is not the case. You sucked at GC and now WInd Mits and Home inspections. The lack of you making money has nothing to do with OTHER people it has to do with YOU.
Case and point…I will name 4 people off the top of my head who are contractors who recently (past few years) who are now successful Home Inspectors…John Shishilla, Preston Halstead, Jay Murray and William Chandler.
I dont see them crying…I seem them finding a niche and making it an income.
What you see as a ton of competition to me is an easy way to stand out. There are about 550 inspectors in the two counties I work in. When 525 of them are doing almost the exact same thing, it is very easy to stand out! You fail to see that, because simply put you suck at business. You made you living bottom feeding and are now a product of your own demise.
Does this look familiar?

Sorry I have not read your full message yet but I just had to respond to this part. I will read the rest latter.
If you remember correctly you contacted me and you tried to get me to lower my price to do them for your company.
Do you remember that?
Mike, you didn’t make it as a gc/stucco guy now a home inspector. Good luck with the whogrowsit thing.
Are you kidding me, I have PLENTY of work.
I remember it very well and thanks for reminding me. I offered you what, 20-40 a month. That would have been 2-4K a month just from me! LMAO, your doing them for what $40? Thanks for proving my point that no matter what profession you get into, you will suck as an owner.
Ha. You just try to ride others experience and get them to work for you for pennies.
As I told you then, you offer was not in my best financial interest.
Sorry you took it so hard.
I am sure you found someone who would play ball.
I sure did and he is still working today and making a great living. Once again, nice $40 wind mit!..
You never will figure it out will you?
If you want the secret just call and I will share it with you personally.
I just cannot afford to share it will all those who read my wisdom.
If they ask I will tell. Privately
Michael, I really do not want the secret on how to lower my income by 90%, if I wanted that I would be married.
LOL…now that is funny!
Bert
Hey…take it easy there on the married comment!
My income went up after I got married…course, I did put my wife through college!
Mike,
Feel free to charge what you like. It is your business. But, from someone who has been performing home inspections for over 20 years, I will relay this story to you and others. Feel free to use it as you wish.
Way back in the 80s, I was working for an inspection company that was the lowest priced inspector in town. They relied on Realtors for all of their business. They did repairs on properties they inspected and got a piece of that action.
In 1992-1993 I worked for another home inspection company that had the same basic business model. In 1994, I started my company. For the first year, I was the lowest priced inspector, just for spite. I soon realized, that the business model that I had copied was flawed. It left no room for expansion. If I raised the price by 10 dollars, the Realtor would use someone else.
My second year in business, I raised my price by $50.00. Half of the Realtors stopped calling, but, I doubled the number of inspections. The following year, I raised my prices again. I increased my number of inspections again. I think I did 500+ inspections in my third year.
Now, I do fewer inspections for even more money. I do not rely on Realtors for anything. You will never see me on this message board or anywhere else, ******** about not being busy. I have never offered specials, discounts or anything else along those lines to entice clients.
I use my work product to do that and so far, it has been pretty successful.
I can pick and choose when I do inspections and for whom. I did four inspections in the first two days of this week and have four booked for Mon & Tues. of next week. I plan on going fishing Wednesday, golf Thursday, and just relaxing Friday,or, if need be for a client, an inspection.
Today, I have to finish “Spring cleaning”, which includes pressure cleaning the entire exterior of our home including the patio, and cleaning the interior of our home. Saturday is the continuing “4th birthday party tour” for my son, which has included four days in Disney and a party tomorrow. Sunday morning golf and then a rib barbecue in the afternoon.
I would suggest that the newer inspectors, re-examine their business model and think of ten years from now. Aim for that now as ten years goes by real fast…
