I have completed the required training and passed the NYS exam. I am ready to send my application in but have been told that it takes 4-6 weeks to get my license. Has anyone gone to Albany to apply and by doing so does it reduce the time it takes to receive the license? I don’t want to wait 4-6 weeks but I also don’t want to waste 6 hours of driving to find out it doesn’t help to go in person. Can anyone share their experience?
If you do not get an answer here I would assay why not Call Albany and talk to the issuer , If you get a positive reply be sure to ask what paper work you need and what is best time to arrive . Good luck please keep us posted on how you make out.
I don’t think that will help. You may not receive your license in the mail for 4-6 weeks but if you check the online site, you should see your name and license number in about 10 days I think and would be good to go
mine took exactly six weeks…I had the same question when I applied and I was told it didn’t matter if i brought it in or mailed it…4 to 6 weeks from the day they receive it. I was checking the site 300 times a day for all 6 weeks too. Good luck, brother, but the only time I ever heard of Albany rushing anything was when they passed the S.A.F.E. act in the middle of the night.
In the mean time if you want to get marketing printed and your site built, the 160000… number on your application and test is what your license number will be. I recommend using this time to get your marketing in order before you go and get yourself busy.
Robert, after providing the required insurance I have had many inspectors drive to Albany to turn in their paper work, they are given their license # on the spot so that you can go to work, but the hard copy does still take the 4-6 weeks to be sent to you.
