Obama's Natural Born Status?

Oh, I understand those passages completely. They, unlike a lot of the Bible, are written in a way that is easily understood. They clearly advocate hate, slavery, sexism and murder…no questions asked. So since your answer was “no I wouldn’t”, does that mean you agree with those parts?

If you mean your post # 90, I answered in post #92.

Yes, now read post #94. Your thoughts please.

You are talking about the Bible as if it were 1 book. It is 2.

Somebody came between the first and second and changed much.

in the context and culture of there time, Yes.

Who am I to disagree with God?

BTW- Slavery was never advocated in the bible among God’s chosen people. There was something called indentured servitude but it was not slavery.

Does that mean slavery didn’t exist. Of course not.

So which one is right?

Not exactly but I see what you intend.

The scriptures consist of 66 books. 39 in what is now called The Old Testament and 27 in what is called the New Testament.

Doesn’t matter. I’ll clear this up for the sake of argument. When I say “Bible” I mean new and old testament and whatever icing you guys use.

The somebody who came (between the two Testaments) could have come as a UFO or high priest or something spectacular… but he didn’t. He came as a baby. If you can’t figure out how this relates to our upcoming presidential election, me explaining it won’t help.

That’s a whole new can of worms. Immaculate conception? Come on.

Their time? Isn’t the Bible the word of God?

Meant to type just “the time”.

Who am I to disagree with God?
Someone who can objectively understand that the Bible is written by man and not by a God. And that we as the creatures of this planet should not base our morals on an ancient, primitive culture that clearly embraced hate, slavery, sexism and murder.

No. If one believes in a Creator and that it is He that is the author of the book, we should listen to Him.
That makes sense, right?

Semantics. The word slave is used in the Bible many times.
Not semantics at all, you’re confusing the practice of other cultures with the practice of God’s chosen people.

Does that mean slavery didn’t exist. Of course not.*

Anyway, I’m actually feeling a little guilty for exposing religion’s privates like this so we’ll have to agree to disagree. I hope you had as much fun as I did. Sorry if I caused any hurt feelings. I just hope that whoever has read this and those that may read this in the future may think of things a little differently.

The scariest part is the potential for a discussion like this to offend someone to the point of violence. It has and does happen, unfortunately.

God bless you Michael.

Good night Kevin.
