I will call Lisa Lawhorn in the morning at the BTR.
Lisa is my sister. Tell her I said Hello.
[quote=tallen]
Will do, Todd…she always replies to my questions on the phone and backs up what she says in a email to me.
I went through hell and high water trying to get an answer about me bringing my licensed contractors to Technical Home Inspections.
Very nice lady…
Doug
There are many reasons why a certified home inspector in AZ would need to seek some compensation for the parallel inspections you need for your certification. Whomever led you to believe that you could obtain the needed number of parallel inspections in a short time without compensating the trainer was mistaken. I hope it was not one of our local schools. Michael is correct in the level of responsibility a certified inspector assumes for the field training provided. Todd is also correct in the fact that those responsibilities have always been enforceable. Michael’s insinuation that AZ home inspectors do not stay informed about changes made by our governing agency is not true. I also do not believe that there would be new, non-published standards, that are currently enforceable by the BOTR. I have heard these " I know something you don’t know" statements before from other AZ inspectors.

I don’t have a REAL sister.
Tell her I said hello anyway.
Would you rather I tell her Todd Allen might be supervising parallel inspections and doesn’t know the hidden laws (secret) of the state…
New laws which are in affect but not published…
I’m going to ask her to email the new secret laws…
Unreal…
The BTR paper is mailed out to certified inspectors.
Doug I am just finishing up with an apprentice inspector. I charge him $50.00 a pop to tag along. I am responsible for him at the inspection, I am responsible for any damage that he may cause, my business bears the brunt of any off the cuff remarks he may make during the inspection, I have to review his reports and sign them of.
And I had better make sure that the report he turns in to the BTR meets their standards.
(This was not easy for me the first time as I am not sure they understood English in the wriiten form;) )
On another note are they really changing the Standards? I just bought a box of 400:( of the current Standards.
Gentlemen see the attachment taken from the BTR website this morning it shows the new wording on such things as identifying objects (Such as Pipes and Columns) I f you read through it you will see subtle changes that ask for key items and the big change is the placement of the words Type and condition that were added if you look at the previous version you will see they didn’t have these words in there it was more general.
Also attached you will find the new Supervisor sign off sheet also loaded from the BTR this morning It is now a real Legal document, it is now your job to make sure that the person is really trained or you pay for there failure.
Also NACHI just updated there sight and that is why I don’t show up for all of my past posts for the past 3 years.

As far as the report evaluation checklist goes, the one you posted is **IDENTICAL **to the copy that I have had for over a year.
The parallel check off sheet looks just like the one my supervising inspector filled out for me.
The revision date on this form is 2003.
The rules have not changed, nor have the standards of practice, which every report must meet the Minimum.
What part of this do you consider New?..the bold underlines.
They have been there for some time now…Oct. 1st. 05
When the BTR replies to my email about the sneak preview of the hidden changes I will post their reply.
pssst…the red none and the gold none are now tied…dale…not responding to my pm’s anymore
This is from Susan Skrzycki from the BTR.
Hello Dale,
The Board’s Rules have not changed. We have been updating our report review checklist, which is a helpful tool in interpreting the Standards, which also have not changed.
I am not from Az. and probably a good thing because I don’t like the heat! Anyways, I was reading all these post. If someone is going to Supervise another inspector, they should be responsible for that inspector of doing everything the right way. If I was looking for someone to help me get certified I personally would like them to make sure I did it right.
If you are a supervisor you should be responsible for the one under you. The teacher is over the student.

**HEAT?..it’s 73 degrees outside right now…I’m freezing… **
I really enjoy the 4 seasons here in NYS. This year has been exceptionally mild. So far only 3 weekends of snow. It was 50 degrees today. That is a warm spell for us. NYC had 28 inches of snow last weekend, we had none.

I like the four seasons here…Perfect, Perfect, Perfect, and Hot…
