Plastic supply (cold) loop

Just trying to get an answer to satisfy my curiosity on why this configuration might be installed.
1958 build, copper piping through out home except this plastic loop in supply.

My guess would be a homeowner installed filter/treater of some kind that was removed later?

That, or a rough-in for a planned device that isn’t there yet, who knows…

Probably removed, given the pair of couplings on the yoke end. If it’s PVC vs CPVC it shouldn’t be inside the structure.
