Occasionally I come across support posts in a basement that are supporting the main beam and find that they are custom fitted with welded top and bottom plates. The problem is they are attached at the top with bent over nails and not secured to the floor at all. Just wondering how others write this in the report. I always recommend that they be lag bolted into the beam, and anchored to the concrete floor. Here are some sample photos.
