Hope everyones day is going great! Just a heads up on the 120 hour course for licensing in Florida. Take it! Just like the advice given in the forum, get to the point you are getting 90’s on the practice exam and you will have no issues at all. I was in and out of the testing room in about 25 minutes shaking my head wondering what I was worried about. Great course!
Stephen, what part of Florida are you in?
Thanks for sharing this, Stephen!
I’m taking mine next week; I’m in Volusia, FL.
I’ve been getting high 90s for the past few weeks on the practice exam. I’ve been reviewing the flashcards, and I’ve also been going through the practice tool questions.
Your feedback makes me feel at ease… although I won’t stop practicing until I take the test!
Once again, thank you for your post.

Hello Willis, You wont have any trouble at all. You got it!
And that is one reason you have around 15,000 home inspectors in Florida! The INACHI exam is too blasted easy and is designed to get folks into the organization regardless of their knowledge. This is not to disparage you or to discredit you but, FL is the only state that allows for this to happen!
Many states do not even require a license. Such as CO. But yes, WE HAVE TOO MANY! haha
13 States are unregulated.
Ok, well I was just trying to point out the course did its job. Dont really care how many inspectors are here, I will determine my success not them. Good test, easy test does not matter, Im the one who either is a good inspector or a bad one.
Congratulations… Again, not trying burst anyones bubble. I hope you do well and if you ever have a question please do not hesitate to contact me. I’ve been at this gig longer than many are in age!
Hey Stephen, I’m in Pensacola, Fl. Going to take my state exam tomorrow morning. Been studying all week. So much to remember. The real learning is on the job working with experienced home inspectors. I’ll be tagging along as much as I can after I’m licensed.
Says the former president of ASHI, an association that has ZERO entrance requirements. Just put up a credit card and shazam! https://www.homeinspector.org/Join/Application
Actually that is not entirely true, I was able to get some changes made when I was Pres. back in 2019. This link is to the joining requirements and requirements of each level of membership. The Associate or starting level is not listed on the Find-a-Inspector search. https://www.homeinspector.org/Join-ASHI/Levels-of-Membership
That’s great to hear, @scrowell2. I recommend visiting Become a Licensed Home Inspector in Florida - InterNACHI® (your state page of inspector information) and scroll down that page to take advantage of everything InterNACHI® provides to help you succeed, including insurance, wind mits, 4-points, and the My Safe Florida Home Program.
The “ASHI Inspector” membership is and requires no test. Read the very last sentence in my attached image:
I pulled is straight from the link you provided. ASHI steers unsuspecting consumers to inspector who aren’t educated or tested. This is why ASHI was forced to scrub their own tagline from their entire site: InterNACHI Defeats ASHI in Court, Again
Face it. Even the courts know that ASHI is a diploma mill.
Is that a dig on Colorado?? Ouch… Just kidding. There are a ton of HIs here. Competition far exceeds the market. In the last year alone, 3 HIs have set up camp in my little town with new ones popping up in the general area fairly regularly. With the influx of people here and in FL, it’s easy to see why so many people are getting into the business. Many, not all mind you, but many think it would be easy money…
Nick, I will be posting a thread in the near future regarding a local builder, whom you may know, and ASHI. It just might be of interest to you specifically… (To be continued…)
And you failed to list the requirements for the “Inspector” level:
Inspector Level Requirements:
- Completion of all Associate level requirements.
- Obtain or maintain your home inspector license if your state requires licensing. If your state does NOT require licensing, you must provide proof of passing the National Home Inspector Examination (NHIE).
- Pass the ASHI Standard of Practice and Code of Ethics education module.
- Completion of a minimum of 50 fee paid home inspections.
- Pass the Report Verification process. Using ASHI’s report verification portal, members will submit five full home inspection reports for review. The report verifiers will review the reports in accordance with the ASHI Standard of Practice and Code of Ethics.
- Receive an affidavit from ASHI, notarized with the total number of inspections completed.
- You must remain current in your ASHI dues, and obtain 20 ASHI approved CE annually.
As all can see, testing is required under this category.
Nope. I only know that because I am a CO native! Lived there for 39 years, and been in FL now for the last 4.
Its beautiful, we just wanted something new, and I had other family in FL.
I will say I miss the rockies. (actually, I really miss being able to just go camp in some random spot by a river and shoot guns. Cant do that much around here)
I was transplanted here when my dad retired from the Marines back in the 80s. Alot has changed here since then for sure, but I know what you mean about the camping. It’s good to disconnect some times and get back to nature.
