The Canadian Government fell again?

I seem to remember that Paul Martin as Finance Minister had a $12 billion surplus before folks decided to turf him.

That’s what happens when liberals govern like conservatives. Problem is they just don’t learn.

This could be a very interesting election .
I expect to see a small turn out .
People usually get the Government they want .
I wonder how many of those who complain are a member of a party.
I woner how many put a sign up on their property .
I wonder how many go to the town hall meetings and ask questions .

We do all of the above… Roy

Whats the purpose of a surplus if the country is hurting. Thats why we now have the conservatives.

People usually get the Government they deserve…by not participating; not discussing the real issues, just their greedy pocketbooks; and just not caring about how great a country we have while they whine about not having enough toys, southern vacations, etc, etc, etc.

I won’t even pretend to understand your government but it sounds like you have exactly the same problem we all (the world) have. You don’t really have conservatives and liberals running things, you have career politicians in control. They are all the same thing. They go to the same clubs, belong to the same organizations, their kids go to the private schools all the while insisting your kids go to inferior public schools (so their kids can continue to rule over your kids when it is their turn). That coupled with voter apathy, low turn out and the legions of bloodsuckers living off the labors of working people. You essentially have a small overloaded boat full of holes with the same world class assholes that we do looking for places to drill more holes all the while telling you they are taking care of you. The world’s system is finally broke, no more money and no one with brains enough to admit it.

Gee that sounds so much like you are talking about …** Brian**

What “real” surplus when we collectively owe near $1,000,000,000,000?

http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/fullcomment/archive/2009/09/11/terence-corcoran-canada-s-1-trillion-debt-baby.aspx

http://www.debtclock.ca/

That clock’s clicking along at about $55,000/min. or $3.3 million/hour or $80 million per day!! A major change in how we run the national purse is needed!

Seems like you haven’t got any smarter in the last 6-7 weeks, Roy!!

You are good glad you can see That…

Did’t say we were not in devt. I was responding to your post #21.
Interesting articles.

The difference between a surplus and a deficit is the difference between good and bad management or mismanagement.
Diefenbaker cancelled the Avro Arrow and pretty much destroyed our Aerospace industry.
Mulronney ran the dept up so high the IMF was threatening to down grade our credit rating and force us to abandon our social programs.
This government has plunged us back in dept all the while trying to take credit for the health of our economy and the stability of our banking system when it fact is was the liberals that maintained the regulations of our banking system.
It was the Bush Administration that relaxed the banking regs that lead to the sub-prime mortgages fiasco that caused the current melt down around the world. This government has cut the taxes on those same banks that have posted the biggest profits in their history.
And to top it all off this government was the first government in Canadian history to be defeated in a non-confidence vote for contempt of parliament.
In fact they are the only government in the commonwealth to defeated for contempt.

George what the h*ll have you been smoking?

Cute this gets people thinking .
I recommend this… Roy

Vern:

Are you the last liberal left in Alberta? :p:shock::wink:

PS: I was chastised by an administrator on another board for asking that question!!!

 Out of 19 MP’s 1 is NDP and 18 are PC’s. There was a Liberial two elections ago or was that three elections ago?

The greens ran second in most of the Alberta ridings in the last federal election, liberals last and the ndp third except for the one seat they won.

"It was the Bush Administration that relaxed the banking regs that lead to the sub-prime mortgages fiasco that caused the current melt down around the world."

Vern, with all due respect I think you had better read some history. Bush was at the leading edge demanding reforms to prevent the collapse of the American banking system. It was the democrats who made it law that mortgages were to be given to those who could not afford to pay for them.

"The liberals had to cut programs and increase taxes to recover from the Mulronney mess"****.

As I said, that’s what happens when Liberals govern like Conservatives.

"It’s the PC attack ads that is portraying Ignatieff as an American."

A little too close to home Vern? The ads point out that he came back from America to be anointed “King of Canada”. Guess that didn’t work out too well . . . .

"Again you got it backwards."

“Just you wait Henry Higgins, just you wait.” Whenever the Liberals get desperate they trot out the big bad American bogie man. Tune in about two weeks from now. Happens ever time.

I still have not made up my mind on who to vote for and I am active and attend many meetings .
How is John Q who usually has nothing much to do with politics trying to make an informed decision.
I do not like either leader .

Ever since Joseph Philippe Pierre Yves Elliott Trudeau tried to steal Alberta’s oil reserves the Liberals have been dead meat in Alberta.
