Unfortunately Roy most people do not vote and those that do, do not inform themselves of the real issues. With all the BS the politicians spew out it’s impossible to make a rational decision on what they say so I try to make my choices based on on what their performance was while they were in power.
Harper was defeated because of contempt for Parliament.
The liberals do everything they can to rob Peter to pay Paul. Paul is Quebec and Peter is the rest of us.
Jack Layton has the moxie to be PM but his left wing policies means he does not have any chance of forming the next government.

I’ve been encouraging my NDP/GREEN friends/neighbours/children to vote Liberal so we can get such an arrogant jerk out of office and then maybe the Cons will dump him for all time! Remember this party was once called the Progressive Conservatives…my term is the “Regressive Conservatives”.
There are 2 ridings in NS (including my own) where the Cons won with less than 4% margins!! One incumbent Con is a guy I used to play football with in college…he has got to go…in the 1980’s, former NS Finance minister with the premier really began to run this province off the rails with massive gov spending…we still haven’t got things turned around yet!! In his lightly populated, out-of-the-way, rural riding, he got a sizeable seasonal amusement park built with mostly gov funds…to produce grounds…it has never turned a profit in 18-20 years.
Remember that the right wing of this party would be more aligned with the right wing religious trend in the US…and you saw what a Koran burning did down there…whackos!!!

Well, if the Middle East keeps blowing up (some of this may last for decades), $108/bbl oil will seem cheap as will whatever alternative energies we have in place. Just yesterday was at a home show and found some photovoltaic panels at $4/watt (not including other gear…costs seem to be coming down!

He should just step up and volunteer to be one of the fewer.

You fault Jack for $100,000 while jean sent millions to Quebec illegally and Stephen was defected for contempt of Parliament. Like I said before none of these #$%^&()() are Innocent.
Maybe that’s why only 38% of the eligible voters voted in the last election. The rest are totally disgusted with these guys.

Great news today. Harper wants to be Prime Minster but can not control his staff. If he can not control his staff how can we trust his to run the country? He says that his staff acted on their own when they kicked two young ladies out of a Conservative rally because they posted a pic of them with Ignatieff on face book.

Most Canadians have no concept of what democracy is unless you have been to countries which have dictatorships.
The goings on in the middle east should be a wake up call as to the importance and the right to vote!
Every time the conservatives try and introduce bills for tougher sentencing for criminals the liberals and their politically correct ways either defeat it or have it watered down.
Harper wants to get tough on human smugglers, what do the Liberals want, they want the legislation watered down!
They don’t want Harper and boys to build more prisons either! Yet on the nightly news all we hear is about those criminals who are out on bail committing more crime.

We change our governments frequently. We have 5 parties .

Actually we have way more then 5 parties. Four have elected members to the commons but the others have not. Some of the ones with no MP’s are the Green party, Marijuana party, Communist party, Rhinoceros party I heard there were 25 registered parties.
In the last election the greens got a million votes across Canada but did not elect anyone. The bloc got a million votes concentrated in Quebec got 29 seats (I think).
These numbers are off the top and may not be exactly correct.
For our Friends down south the following is a rough overview of our political parties.
Conservatives are on the right
Liberals more or less in the middle
NDP (New Democratic Party) on the left
Green party are special interest and work for the protection and preservation of the environment.
Bloc are separatists and are working to break Canada up by making Quebec independent.
Ok I don’t usually like to get into political discusssions but here goes.
As much as some people don’t like the current leader, he and his government have managed our economy well enough to be recognized, world wide, as one of the strongest, despite recent world wide finincial problems.
The nutty professer promises to spend billions for new programs but he can’t say how they will be paid for.
As stated previously, what is the alternative… certainly not the Nutty Professer! IMHO
