Nick I am not sure but I believe that is for county code inspectors. Not the brand new licensed profession of home inspectors. The two are not the same. I may be wrong but I am sure someone will let us know. I would think that you would know that with your qualifications. If that is accurate why are you applying for a G.C. license?
I’m not, years ago (at least 3)I wanted to but after reading the prereqs I felt I would not meet the qualifications. They just won’t/can’t remove it from the site. I did the online form and it was the wrong license anyway. If I would go for it it would of been a certified not reg. At one time I had aspirations of being a bldg official and a GC license is required for some bldg depts. I do not believe the job pays enough for the problems it brings. I would not take that job for almost any amount.
There is nothing wrong/unethicial with self improvement and meeting goals, the problem begins with the scams.

You are a wise man!
Nick H,
I know the feeling this part of town if very different from the rest of the State and we pay the price…
Nice - Many prospective clients need that assurance that inspectors aren’t selling other services.
I think you will all start seeing some stuff like this. Enjoy the war you have started.
Until very recently there were No Florida State Licensed Home Inspectors. Most home inspectors have simply been grandfathered in and did not have to do anything to prove they were qualified when they started inspecting homes. Here is the requirements for being grandfathered in as a home inspector. <http://www.myfloridalicense.com/dbpr/pro/homein/grandfathering.html> Make sure whoever you choose has some verifiable experience. Florida Licensed General Contractors know how to build homes from the ground up and have insight that most home inspectors simply do not have. Remember you only have one chance to hire the right person for the job.
ATTENTION HOMEBUYERS…
Good contractors are still working as good contractors. Those who are not good enough to be employed at their trade now need to sell you on the idea of allowing them…the mediocre contractors who built the money pit…to inspect it for you.
The “experience” that matters to you in getting a complete, accurate and unbiased inspection report comes to you from the professional inspector who has the experience and formal education in recognizing the defects that resulted in the unemployment of the “experienced contractor” who needs your business.
Hire a full time professional inspector to inform you of the actual condition of the home you are looking to buy. Don’t settle for the inferior unemployed contractor who is simply waiting for the competition to become less intense so that he can return to his previous level of inexpertise.
That’s why I just returned from an inspection and found NO INSULATION in the attic. I can post pictures if necessary. It’s the 5th home in a year that I found with NO INSULATION. Great contractors and building code officers. That’s only insulation.
Do I have to tell you all the other mistakes and screwups I find from the grand old contractors. I had one tell me the people who moved must have taken the insulation with them because it was a repo…
So let me see now. The contractor is going to inspect homes when he don’t know what the hell is going on in building a home. I’ll give you a few do know.
When I moved to Florida 17 years ago I contracted with a builder. One day after he poured the foundation (slab) my wife and I visited the site. I found all kinds of problems that were brought to the builders attention. He said there was nothing wrong. I had the supervisor of the county building department meet me the next day. He said yes you have problems. The next day I setup a meeting with the builder and county building supervisor and the county guy did a complete 180 degrees. Make a long story short, I fired the builder and fixed the problems and proceeded to build the home myself. Now I have a home that is built right. Thanks to the wonderful builder-contractors out there.
By the way, Thank You Mr. Builder. All the money I saved I was able to put in multiple upgrades in my home.
So don’t tell me about builders. Most could not even explain how a breaker works.
Just letting you all know this is being done because of all the crap being put out there from home inspectors. I personally cannot wait to let the customers decide. Enjoy the war you hacks have started. This is just the beginning.
Touched a nerve Mike. The public already knows about crooked builders.
By the way. For someone who is so busy with all these inspections you have all this time to post?
This subject along with all the other similar posts on this message board about this subject reminds me of this story I found …
Why you can’t win an argument about what the Bible says
Many years ago, when I was a Psychology student, we had a lecturer who told stories of his own early life as a young clinical psychologist. One story he told was of a psychotic patient who was under his care. This man was quite normal in other ways, but he believed that he (the patient) was dead. So one day my lecturer decided to try some cognitive therapy on him:
Lecturer: You think you’re dead, yes? Well, do dead people bleed?
Patient: No, of course not. How could they?
Lecturer: (Sticking a pin in him) Well, how about that?
Patient: Good God! That’s amazing! I was totally wrong!.. Dead people do bleed!
Anyone who has tried to have an argument with a religious believer about the many contradictions and errors in religious texts will find themselves in sympathy with my lecturer. Each logical step forward seems to be met with another piece of twisted logic or wilful blindness.
Amen please !
No Amen’s here. We are not talking religion. By the way builders bleed. They bleed the public.
I’m not building houses, although I can probably outbuild most builders around here.
You should not be inspecting and repairing homes.
No hack inspectors who take inventory of a house and use as many words as possible ripoff the public.
Mike,
What makes you think that being a GC is something that only a few can achieve? Or that it makes you a better inspector? You speak as if it was some type of Godly figure to be a GC. Any one who studies for a few months can be one! Correct? How many GC do you know that had their friend’s sign of on their experience? The only thing that proves to me is that you applied yourself for about a good four month of preparation and you passed an open book test, You can also read, comprehend add, subtract, divide and multiply. I think all home inspectors can do the same. Can they? Most here can? Get of the high horse my friend not to different than a home inspector. I personaly think you are more a home inspector than a GC…
Take care M&M
Ooooo, really touching the nerves.
I have about four builders here who won’t let me do inspections on their homes. Wonder why? Lets see, problems, mistakes, violations, on and on and on.
Hey Mike, go build a house will you and stop playing inspector.
I never said any of that. My new attitude is in direct response to the hacks attacking contractors. I have never considered you one of those. The a so so holes out there have brought this down on themselves. I will let the consumers decide by giving them the facts.
They likely think you suck and do not want you ripping off their customers. Anything else you wish to say?
Whats the facts Mike? That your going to inspect the home and your a better inspector because your a contractor? Or your going to do the repairs and rip them off.
Mike go have a pacifier and chill. Let the real inspectors inspect the homes you guys screw up.
Mike, I’ve been reading this board for years. All I read when you post is whining.
Try and find a contractor web site and move.
Naa I know you need something to keep your mouth full. I do not take things from the mentally handicapped.
