There is a certain type of personality that survives in this business. We tend to be iconoclasts with remarkable potential to be real jerks when given opportunity. The ASHI board is the most hostile BB I have ever participated in. Predictably, it is almost dead.
I am a P.E., a member of ASHI, a member of NACHI and some other groups. I feel no need to apologize or promote myself at the expense of others. Getting too old for that sort of thing. In my opinion it simply reveals how insecure some people are.
Inspectors feud among themselves and the Realtors laugh all the way to bank.

I think home inspectors… like teachers and professors, are usually a little (or lot) narcissistic. Think about it… we think so much of our own opinions, we think it’s a good idea for people to pay us to hear it. Ahh… self reflection… It’s hell being right all the time.

Well, I have my official NACHI number and my emails to prove that I am a NACHI inspector. I am creating my website, and it was an honor to add NACHI to it.

The ASHI board is not now nor has it ever been tolerant of free thought its sole purpose is to articulate the ASHI party line, to instill right thinking in its members and to advance its message on the virtues of HI licensing. The result is something like poorly written soap opera, you can stay away for years and pick up the storyline again overnight. Needless to say I don’t post there anymore, the small-bus logic that dominates the conversation is dished out with religious fervor irrespective of any facts, anyway, they can read me here uncensored where all home inspectors get their information.
