Most inspectors use a mirror on a pole and only check a few strap locations when they should be checking all. Its easy to miss a strap like this when using a mirror because they see the portion of the strap that is up aginst the truss with nails and move on. The GC that allows this to go unrepaired is one that I would like to see repremanded. Just because the inspector missed it doesn’t mean the GC is off the hook. I never counted on Bldg Officials to find all code violations, as I felt this was my job to protect against liabilty claims and offer the best product that I could.
