Well, let’s see.


Romex from the panel to the cellar into a junction box. Knob & tube out of the junction box across the bottom of the joists to this mess. The romex goes from this mess to the outlet box (kitchen outlet) on the wall at left. K & T back down to cellar light, with a switch cut in here, and overhead in a small plastic surface conduit to the light on the far side.

Looks safe to me. Why would I have a problem with such superior thinking and workmanship?
