About once a year I receive items that I never ordered through Amazon, I call them to return them and they have always told me to keep them, dispose of them, or donate them.
Last week after reading about the ladder incident, in my old and wise age I finally decided to get a camera pole (Thanks for the link Brian @bcawhern1) Today my camera pole arrived in a much larger box than I expected, I met the UPS guy at my front door and took the box and was surprised at how heavy it was and was thinking that there’s no way this will work, then I opened the box and found 6 each camera poles. I called Amazon to reutrn them and they told me I could dispose of them or return them. I told the Amazon rep that that these items cost over $100.00 each and I would gladly return them but that the closest UPS store to return them is about a 30 minute drive both ways, but that they can come pick them up from my house, she told me that wasn’t an option and to go ahead and dispose of them.
I’ll wait a month or so before I “dispose of them” to make sure they don’t want them back, but if past is prologue, they won’t be wanting them back.
I have the same pole and it has some weight to it, I bet having 6 in one box would be pretty stout… You can get a good work out with it fully extended on windy days. I did figure out that if you hook the bottom in your belt, it helps, not to mention it frees up one hand to work the phone that’s connected to the camera that’s swaying in the breeze.
I was able to work through getting my phone to work in with my camera via Wi-Fi and then was wondering how am I going to hold and point the camera pole, and control the phone at the same time. I’ll have to make a few practice runs for sure.
I hold against my waist or top of my thigh/groin (but the flag belt is smart). Phone in the other hand. I often use the roof gutter to stabilize it near the top.
