My question to your industry is how do you feel the Florida law regarding mold assessment will affect you industry?
I know that many offer mold testing as additional services. As the law reads not you will not be able to do that with out meeting the requirement for practice set forth in HB 315 / SB1830 as it was passed on Friday with the mold language amended to it. Will this new regulation present problems for your industry?

Mark
You have taken most of us out of the mold testing business. If you are looking for friends I doubt that you will find any here. I am glad that I now know who to blame this bull$hit on.
Jeff Hooper and all that allowed this to happen only considered their own feelings. No thought was given to the members that they serve.

Perhaps you could expand on how you went about getting this done or is one to assume that you were opposed to the current legislation that had no chance to pass until it was pork barrelled onto a Bill that needed no help.

I think if you would go read his website you will see they were not FOR the legislation the way it was written or came out. Once again we have spit into someone’s face without knowing all the facts.

I just left his site and Doug you are correct.
My apologies Mark as I spoke without having the facts.
To answer your question- I think the bill is a very poor bill. It is going to substantially raise the cost for the consumer to determine if there is a need for an expert. I have worked with Matthew (Microscope) out of Jacksonville for several years. I never tell anything to a client that is beyond my knowledge. I see our service as a benefit to the consumer because we are an affordable way for them to tell if they need an expert or not.
I understand your need for some type of regulation. I just had a pest control guy tell me the other day that they are selling the consumer their tenting service for drywood termites as a way of cleaning up mold. Being that I am not educated as a remediation specialist I just nodded my head and agreed. I hope that the look on my face did not show what I was thinking.

Mark and I just spoke on the phone. He is sincere with his effort. The Mold Bill he is opposed to it. He has been trying to educate the Legislators, but they had their own agenda. Mark was hoping to get support from us to kill the Bill.

Rob,
You just need to drop it. I do not believe ANYONE could have predicted that they were going to stuff the Mold amendment into HB315. There was a rush right at the end of the Senate’s dealing with the bill where they crammed all kinds of stupid items into the bill. Some got withdrawn and others made it in. Unfortunately the Mold amendment probably “sounded good” to the legislators. It was obvious to me that they didnt have a clue what a home inspector is or does and the numerous changes that HB315 went through proved it. They were getting input from all corners. Everyone that had an agenda was inputting the minute by minute manipulations. The bill was being changed even while it was being voted on in the House because of phone calls from different interested parties. The House only did what factions of Home Inspectors within and from outside the State told them to put in. Believe me when I tell you. There were other Associations working on this bill besides those mentioned in any posts.

Sorry, but Y'all need to drop it. You forget the threats and banning that was imposed on me for no justified reason. In time this will pass, but till then accept that comments will be injected due to the way I was mis-treated.
Have I grown from this ? Yes. But I am not perfect, I do my best but this hit VERY deep. So deal with it.
Trust me I am VERY toned down from what my actual gut is telling me. The sooner you get over the need to defend Mr. I"m_God the sooner I will be able to tone it down. But do not ever tell me he is or was right and he does not make statements he knows are incorrect and/or he has no intention of following through with.
See what you started

Rob,
First off, I never defended anyone. We are discussing something entirely unrelated. If you think you have to interject a comment about how you were treated everytime you make a post then it will never end. Do not bother replying as I am not going to make any further comments. It is obvious to me you intend to continue in this manner. That was between You and the other party. I am NOT defending nor am I taking any sides. I have better things to do. You have a beef with anyone the thing to do is take it up with them and leave it off the boards. I hope you did grow from this but I am tired of hearing about it along with all the other injured / insulted parties on ALL the threads. I am done and won’t be following this thread any further.
