This is a picture of the inside of a firebox, including a murder of crows. Reccommend cleaning and further evaluation prior to use. This work should be completed by a licensed chimney contractor.
Great course - although apparently requires two super-computers, a philosophy major (borrowed one from local community college), and large coffee maker.
Attached: One of my favorites from recent inspection. Exterior stairs to 12’ elevated deck - amongst other obvious ridiculousness, stairway stringer attached to tree with nails.
Here’s an interesting question. Can Radon be present within a manufactured home which is resting on a permanent or standard foundation? Ive included a pic of a Radon vent pipe vacuum pressure tube at 1.5" of pressure.
I would say, Yes, particularly if it’s a permanent foundation (without skirting, underground) InterNACHI® - International Association of Certified Home Inspectors
Starting the “How to Inspect Manufactured and Mobile Homes” course.
I just inspected my first mobile home inspection and it is a lot different to inspect including the horizontal time spent under the home. I live in Canada so Im not sure what the codes here are but I will now be looking up that info. This was a good course but I think a few more videos to break up the reading would be helpful as well as pictures not drawing.
nice class
Disposal switch located inside the cabinet below the sink. The location should be moved above the counter
Thanks Ben Great Course… so far…Here’s a pic of a homeowner that wanted me inspect there vegatation around there house…being its to close and has now grown into there soffitts…not only are they dumping alot of water around the foundation, spurring the growth but will eventually encounter roofing issues,I suggested they transplant to an open area…
Very detailed training.
This is a picture of a hot water heater that has an improper drain attached to the TPR valve. The standard is the drain pipe should extend down until it is 6” above the area where it is to drain and should have an air gap. This one is connected to PVC pipe and has a valve attached at the drain end interrupting the ability of the TPR to function properly and could result in the least of the PVC pipe rupturing and causing injury.

Fiberglass insulation for stairs in crawlspace has fallen to the ground.
Anchor point section was informative. The requirements are confusing state to state but I hope the HUD requirements even them out.
The electrical section was a little eye opening as well, seems a little less permanent than stick built houses.
Kitchen Cabinets.

Extension cords were being used as permanent wiring in one or more locations. They should only be used for portable equipment on a temporary basis. Using extension cords as permanent wiring is a potential fire and shock hazard, and indicates that wiring is inadequate and needs updating. Extension cords may be under-sized. Connections may not be secure resulting in power fluctuations, damage to equipment, overheating and sparks that could start a fire. Recommend that a qualified electrician repair per standard building practices and eliminate extension cords for permanently installed equipment.
Hello Everyone,
Just thought I would post this photo of an fuse type panel. You will notice the rust indicating moisture intrusion through the connection port to the outside main service panel. The branch wiring was the old rag wrapped wiring.
Thanks for allowing me to share and I trust you are all enjoying your journey through this course.
Happy Inspecting!
