1st license will be $680 for a two year period. It also looks like the NHIE will be the test so with those fees of about $225 or so, first year “grandfathered” inspectors can expect to pay about $900-1000.
Non-grandfathered inspectors will have a much greater cost. 120 hours actual classroom time, 40 hours of ride-alongs. Figure another $2000-$4000 for the 120 hour classroom course and who knows how much seasoned inspectors will be charging for ride-alongs.
But that all depends on when the classroom courses will be approved. Nothing like not meeting the grandfather requirements and having to shut down business until the classroom time, ride-alongs and test are completed. The cost could be lower at some colleges but the time frame is much greater.
I’m fukcin’ screwed. This is gonna blow.

I decided not to renew my NACHI membership, but will still be active on the board from time to time.
If anyone wants to continue with the link exchange I started in the marketing fourm…

See ya all around. Happy inspecting!
Good to hear you’re still alive and kickin’. I believe (actually I know), several other memberships will be expiring this year.
An association does not make a member, it’s the members that make the association.

So true Brian.
Also it is important to have a good local chapter.
Makes all the difference.
So you guys need to either have a chapter or form one.
If the local chapter sucks…start one.

So true! Well said Brian. Don’t get me wrong, NACHI is a great Assoc. I just think Nick takes things too personal some times, and forces his hand on individual businesses on HOW they should operate or WHO they should associate with. You know,… The elementary school yard mentality “If you continue to be friends with them, I’m not your friend anymore” Like I said many times before, the duel member/ Association bashing is childish.

If you base the ride a longs at what classroom costs are, you can respectfully charge anywhere from $600.00 to $1,300 for the 40 hour PROFESSIONAL TRAINING ride a longs Stephen.

Yeah right! I tried that a few times and would rather staple my nuts to the floor and make a run for the door, than attend the meetings. But it’s good to know that several of the “weeds” at the meetings are no longer in business, and I am.
Once I am “association” free (both of them), I won’t need to worry about the politics of it all. Actually I don’t worry about it now, but it won’t cost me several hundred dollars a year either.

It is a lot of money to see people come here and bash each other and go on and on about politics and religion. I may have to rethink renewal also.

Peter, I beg you to reconsider your decision.
There is nowhere else on the web where you will be able to find such useful Home Insector information about Isreal, Jesus, Politics, Sexual Orientation, etc. Think about it.
Please Peter for the love of (Your Chosen) God, don’t go.
