Meeker this is for you; Reduce TPR Valve

Got the perfect narrative for this.

The temperature-pressure relief valve drain line was reduced and less than 3/4" in diameter. This is a potential safety hazard due to the risk of explosion from restricted flow. A qualified plumber should repair per standard building practices.

Thought I might add:D

Almost a month to figure that one out
Been sleeping on it ?

Nice narrative Shawn - Only thing is a TPR Valve can be reduced to 1/2" as long as it is reduced at the entrance (as in at the tank). But they can never run uphill.

Jared, Let Meeker know, cause that whats this whole thread was about:p

No, I was going through some of sample narratives and found this. Thought I might share, Maybe an early Christmas present;)

I’ll be sure to let him know - lol!!!

Watts 1L and 1XL valves are not ASME listed or rated and only usable for 15,000 BTU’s or less, since your typical residential water heater uses 30,000 BTU’s+…well, you get the point.

Well if you have a 3500 or 4500 watt electric water heater (which probably accounts for 90% of water heaters in South Florida) that is the equivalent of
11942 and 15354 btu’s - well, you get the point.

Contact any manufacturer…see what they say…
