I believe we have captured both functionality and efficiency on our iPhone device thus far for specific insurance inspections. We are in near sight of finishing our line for the iPad and Android platforms. Give us a try at no cost, we would love to hear your feedback.
Call me first when you have a droid version.
HG’s Feb newsletter has info on the Droid, iPhone/iPad apps… and more.
Intuit already has one I downloaded last week.
Does not function properly but gets their sales dept to call you.(warning)!
Through a combination of note, screenshots type programs you could create your own in a sense.
All you need is a checklist with sub folders and a way to combine photos if you go basic like a word report but I see little value.
The sweet function they have is search as you type.
I can see a disadvantage with anything that I can touch/select with my fingers. Sending texts on the droid phone can prove difficult, how would this presumed problem be combated?
The advantage of the PDA’s are they are MADE FOR THIS, their screens are very visible in sunlight, they take a beating and keep on working.
Getting a phone call about a chimney on a house that doesn’t have one can be embarrassing and damaging to your reputation. Can’t put a price on that.
Tim you need to learn how to use it.Take some time and get the correct apps as they are not just set to go when you buy them.Feel free to ask me as I have all the good ones.
Smartphones out sold PC’s last month.
I understand, I know that the phone does more than what I do with it… for sure.
The difference is, even devices that can perform a function, don’t necessarily do it well
Example, you can load up all the tools to do our job in the family car, I simply choose not to.
Or another, maybe more suiting example is to tow a 24’ boat with a mini van… maybe you can do that, but is it a good idea?
I have no doubt Nokia felt the same way as you Tim…
Perhaps you could buy a Nokia:)
The new chief executive of the mobile phone maker Nokia, preparing the company for a wide-ranging shake-up, has reportedly compared its plight to that of a man standing on a “burning platform” and trying to decide whether to jump into icy waters.
Nokia has fallen “years behind” Apple and Google in the market for sophisticated mobile phones, the executive, Stephen Elop, is said to have written in an internal memo that was leaked to a technology news blog, Engadget, and later appeared widely on the Internet.
i own an ipad, its great!
I would caution on any snap or prejudgement. I have been very impressed with some of the apps that i have seen on the android platform. You add to that the superior product that Homeguage is(5 years amd counting)along with the potential of theandriod platform on agood tablet, we could end up witha much lighter load and a more efficent system. I would gladly volunteer to help test the product.
How about the new Kindle Tablet @ $199.00 any software for that?
Hey Dom…
I think they just released a tablet the geeks are going crazy over.
Hey Bob, when you commin’ home? Did you go to the Mustang Ranch?
Quite possibly ![]()
HomeGauge is speeding up the release for the Droid smartphone to run a “Companion” version for HomeGauge. So Version 1 promises to be a speedier input device that works like this:
-
On your droid smartphone open HG companion™ and go to an item where you wish to enter a defect.
-
Take a picture with your phone. The picture is automatically placed in the report where it needs to be.
-
speak your comment and it translates to text automatically*
when you move it over to the main version a feature button will bring up all your pictures in rapid succession for you to embellish them with arrows circles etc. …or you can do them as you take the picture on the phone.
This should truly save time because you no longer need to match the picture with the item and type text.
The HomeGauge Companion ™ for Droid will be out before Christmas if not sooner.
You think that is sexy? Wait until HG version 5 comes out. It promises to give customer interaction with your report that cannot be duplicated on a PDF. HTML 5 will rule
I meant to add that transfering voice to text with Droid is highly accurate but it requires a data connection. meaning certain homes (areas around town) may not have a data connection even though you have a phone signal. This will vary accross the country…actually locally
Russ, I can not wait!!!
Russell,
Will you be showing it off in Melbourne at the end of the month?
I hope to have a demo by the time of the show. It all depends on Sean and his coding etc.
Thanks for the update Russ. Sounds exciting. Now I know what to put on my Christmas list. Are you reading this honey? lol
