Are there supposed to be window wells, or are they not required there?
With the lath installed wrong, flashing missing, and no backer rod around trim, window wells are the least of their problems…

Truth be known the smart trim they have around the windows is not suppose to come in contact with any cement products/masonry. As per the smart trim specs.
Yes Wendy they have window wells in kansas. There is a rock wall in front of the windows that makes for a big well.
They also have alot of houses that are going to fail thanks to the carpenters an codes officials. Not to mention the stucco clowns.

Could you scroll down the page on this and watch the flashing video please?
Now, what I am wondering, with a visual inspection, one might not see this kind of flashing, ding the house for it on the report, and then later on get chewed out by someone for not being intelligent enough to realize there really was proper flashing.
Same thing goes for the new venting stuff that is being considered for code.
Is there an answer for this?
I watched “Flip that house” the other night and they were smoothing over stucco to “modernize” it.
Could this be something similar to that?

This house was new construction.
The first one? Oh, okay. Well, it just looked like that “smoothed” over effect. I didn’t say it looked good. Nasty actually.
This one is six years old and passed all the city inspections at the time it was built.

Why aren’t you sleeping?
This one could be 5 years old or so. And has been patched and painted to death.
Why didn’t the city codes officials stop these jobs in their tracks.
I fell asleep and then woke up and couldn’t go back to sleep.
Got interested in the Code College also.

I forgot if I asked you before about filing your complaint at HADD.com but if you have not already done it I would. At the very least it’s another way to warn others before they buy a new house. No but I am trying to help them get it fixed. And their house passed all the codes inspections at the time it was built. Somebody missed something! HUH?
