Whenever I get enough members (and non-members) proposing something… perhaps we should consider it. Two such proposals are being repeated regularly.
---The first is to make this NACHI forum of this message board open only to members to post, but leaving it where all can read. In other words, you would have to be a NACHI member to post on this particular forum since it is titled "NACHI." This proposal is coming mostly from members. It is argued that the non-members keep posting the same old stuff over and over.
---The second is to down play http://www.nachi.org/whats_new.htm to the extent where we even remove the existing links to it from the left blue border and the home page. This proposal is coming from mostly non-members but with some support from members. It is argued that NACHI's What's New page is public belittlement of other association's inability to keep up such a pace.

Members only for everything but the technical forums. Technical forums should stay open for information from people like Bob Badger and Greg Fretwell, etc.
Keep "Whats New" as is. If others can't keep up, so be it.

Agree with Blaine...Members only for all but Technical. And my vote goes to keeping the what's new link.

Ditto. I would add that the first time a non-member enters off topic garbage to a technical forum, that person's IP be banned and his posts deleted immediately.

It?s NACHI?s board, and the operators/moderators are free to run it according to whatever rules they prefer, but at least in this instance it would appear to be a case of cutting off your nose, etc?

If you make it a members only participating forum, then there would really be no need for this forum. We already have a members only thread. What would be the need to continue with both Forums?
Also two other area's of redundant posting being used is in the Misc and General areas. Other than the non member garbage dump, this Forum is useless.
Eliminate any thread highjacking in the Tech Threads immediately.

I think its about time to re-vamp the board.
There neds to be a new splash page. Very professional and very NACHI-salesy.
Contained therein, should be three links only.
Members Entry
Realtors
Buyers and Sellers
NACHI has matured as an organization. Its time for the board to evolve into something more than it surrently is. BB stays behind the scenes, and still accessible..

This in my opinion is an excellent Idea with a new professional splash page.

If we’re going to close NACHI the same way, just eliminate the forum.
With only the tech forums open to all, we should have a forum called "trash" for the detractor off topic posts that will undoubtedly show up in there to be moved to.

Or you could call it "NoNachi blog." ![icon_lol.gif](upload://zEgbBCXRskkCTwEux7Bi20ZySza.gif) Joking aside, I think you're all overlooking the fact that much of the "garbage" and utter crap comes from your members.
