100 Pennsylvania inspections ( Pittsburgh Area)

For clarity, it says perform or participate in 100 inspections. Which translates to ride along in my opinion.

Back to my original suggestion, see if you can be someone’s helper…not a trainee…for free. It is time to stop raging against the machine and get to it.

Once again, a PA inspector will be more helpful to you.

I think there is one critical question, will you be able to receive your CPI designation prior to 100 participation trophies?

I think the liability is this. You start performing paid inspections without compliance to the state requirements you will be vulnerable if a claim is made against your company.

It’s an outdated law. No one would be able to comply without violating some portion of the law.

Try here:

Thank you for your opinion!

Respectfully, I disagree. Sure, there is a high bar; but is that not so for many skilled professions? Let’s say it takes him 2 years. Not much different than a trade school.

You got it. This is what the 100 inspections is all about. Outdated requirements when ASHI was in control.
That’s probably why internachi says just send them a hundred addresses, no report,

i cannot see an inspector as a trade school unless the school suggested the inspector so at the end everything works .As a mentor yes, but then what would be the case? Every inspector is needed to train every noob?. not everyone is willing to help each other… like Mr. Jeffrey for example.

and thats what im wondering… Thank you!

Exactly. Find 100 friends or relatives that will vouch for the inspection you did if it ever becomes necessary.
I can be your first!

@amenendez you have been waiting for someone to tell you this. Now you have it. This was your goal all along but you wanted to know if anyone would give you the wink and the nod.

Again, can’t happen without violating some portion of the law:

According to PA state regs: “Home inspection.” A noninvasive visual examination of some combination of the mechanical, electrical or plumbing systems or the structural and essential components of a residential dwelling designed to identify material defects in those systems and components and performed for a fee in connection with or preparation for a proposed or possible residential real estate transfer.

Here’s an interesting part of code:

who agrees to be responsible for the home inspection report by signing the report.

Find an inspector that for a portion of your fee, will sign your report.

So his friend/relative paid him a dollar for a pre-inspection when they were considering selling their home. It can be done and meet the requirement.

Brian the idea of the post is that i have no idea. To create a post where any one from PA has this same question the answer would be here. I have a plan but this is when i need opinions and suggestions. Again thank you.

That just defines a home inspection. It has nothing to do with the state requirements to be a home inspector.

Its does, that’s why i wonder if anyone else did the same. I am gonna continue the courses and go as planned. I’ll let everyone know how it goes, once the planned has taken action. Thanks Ryan.

This site doesn’t say anything about participating in any inspections, let alone 100.

With the help of ICA, you can earn your Pennsylvania home inspector certificate and start your own business in a manner of a few weeks

Thats what ive been trying to get, I’m in Pittsburgh, Everything i find is: You will get Certified once the course is completed. I have emailed ASHI since it’s also been recommended, In how do they work with this, but still no response. The state requires something, but how do you proceed when everybody is moving on. In my opinion it feels like what Richard Bleich says: Can’t happen without violating some portion of the law.

I don’t think they’re going to respond to your email anytime soon.

lol… Great.

Yes it is. It’s right in the law. Post a link to the law and I’ll find it and point it out to you.

How one legally achieves these 100 inspections in order to be considered a full member prior to being able to perform independent home inspections is not addressed. This was sent to my email from a chat here in the Internachi website.
